Up for Auction is a PRUSSIAN WAR MEMORIAL CROSS 1914-1918 The Prussian State Warriors Association presented this medal to veterans of the 1st World War. The medal is silver plated with white and black enameled elements and gold writing. On the front medallian is the Prussian eagle with the Hohenzollern breast shield surrounded by a black enameld ring with gold writing that translates to " Prussia - Brave - War". On the back medallian are the dates 1914 and 1918 separated by a horizontal line and surrounded by a black enamel ring with gold writing that translates to "Prussian - War - Memories - Cross". On the left arm of the Cross is the word for "World" and the right are of the cross is the word for "War". The medal originally hung from a black and white striped ribbon. Condition The cross itself is in very good condition but it is missing the ribbon from which it hung.The gold details and writing are in very good condition - crisp and distinct. The enamel is chipped on the left arm of the backside of the cross close to the medallian. The silver plating is either tarnished or a bit worn. A very handsome piece all the same and a worthy addition to any collection. One Important Note I am not an expert or professional seller here on Ebay.
