This appears to be a Japanese Purple Amethyst Glass Fishing Float. This measures about 15 inches in circumference, which would give it a diameter of 4.777 inches. The numeral "73" appeared almost magically in some of the photos. I first saw it in one of the photos but was unable to find it at first when I looked directly at the glass. I finally found it by using a strong flashlight. It is a numeral that was etched into the glass next to the pontil mark. I have no idea what it means. I have read that reproductions of these floats have been produced. I have no way of knowing if this is original or reproduction. How do you tell? If you are a collector of these items, I would expect you to know the difference. I have other items on eBay and will combine shipping when practical and safe to do so.
