I do not know the authenticity or provenance of this piece. It appears to be part of a Purple Heart Medal that was removed from the ribbon and added to a chain so it could be worn as a necklace or medal. I hesitated to list it but I felt it might be better to go to someone who would have knowledge of it and treat it with respect. The condition of the medal is good. It does have some darkening of the metal and t is wear on the back. The front pictures George Washington overlaid on what appears to be a heart of purple enamel. The back reads for Military Merit. I have no other information regarding this piece.The chain is a gold tone metal link. It has a spring ring clasp but the clasp is broken. The medal measures just under 1" long.
