3 Quart Batter Jug with Pine TreeAttributed to Whites of Utica PotteryComing to you from Doc's Crocks, America's Source for Antique Stoneware , is this wonderful 3 Quart Decorated Batter Jug.Its decoration indicates this jug was made by Whites Pottery of Utica, N.Y. during the leadership of Nicholas White and his sons, William and Charles- 1865-1886 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware , pp. 70-71).This beauty features an Exquisite Pine Tree on the Front Executed with a Continuous Motion of a Slip Cup. All the cobalt is rich and shiny . This is a great example of a signature White's decoration. The batter jug comes with original handle, lid, and spout cap. Measures 8 3/4" tall.Excellent Condition . Three 1/8" nibbles inside the rim, a 1/2" chip on the bottom of the left side, chipping on the underside of the handle at the bottom in the back, and some staining where the metal rests on the pottery. That's it! No outer rim or spout chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration. Two salt drips on the front in the making.
