Victoria Gothic Florin from 1858 with the date printed in Latin numerals; mdccclviii. Very nice example of one of the very first florins, or two shilling pieces, introduced in the reign of queen Victoria. Please judge the quality of the coin for yourself from the images. Spink ref: 3891 I have other Victorian coins listed and will combined p&p for multiple purchases. The florin (one tenth of a pound) was first minted in 1848 in an initial attempt to decimalise the coinage. The florin coin (two shilling piece) survived decimalisation in 1971 and QE II florins circulated together with the New 10p pieces until the 10p coin was reduced to its current size.
