I am offering a n excellent working pair of Radio Craftsmen 500 Ultra Fidelity Amplifiers. These amplifiers come with good tubes, including KT66's, although one KT66 has a broken locating pin. These amplifiers are the first version of the Radio Craftsmen KT66 amplifiers, and produce only sjightly more than 10 watts per channel, which is more than enough to use with efficient speakers, such as Lowthers. The Craftsmen 500 amplifier, designed by Sid Smith who went on to work for Marantz, is one of the best sounding vintage tube amps. Its output transformer has a very wide power bandwidth that goes up to 100kc. These amplifiers use two chokes, a 4 mf. oil cap, and a 40-40-8-8 mf. FP type electrolytic cap in their power supply.When I got these amps several years ago, I did quite a bit of work on them. I did my best to retain the original look of the amps, and there are no extra holes or unsightly modifications. I had to replace both power transformers (one was a NOS original and the other was a Hammond). I replaced one 4mf oil cap and one 40-40-8-8 FP type electrolytic with another which was NOS. One under the chassis choke was replaced with a similar choke. All of the coupling caps were replaced with NOS vintage oil caps, such as Vitamin Q's and Gudeman. A few resistors were also replaced.
