To me, the coolest thing at the show came to my attention when it ran into my shoe. It was a little white rodent that was lying on its side. It had bright red illuminated eyes so I knew immediately it was a toy and not something I should fear. I started to reach down to set the little guy back on his wheels when he flicked his tail and self-righted and took off in a flash to bump into a lady walking by and t he did a number of body rolls by repeatedly flicking his tail. I stopped and talked with Felix the production manager for Megatech who was operating the little rodent. The transmitter is in the shape of a cheeseburger and is battery powered. It has two control buttons on the top of the bun and one button on the side of the burger. The button on the side causes the tail to rotate and flips the rodent. The buttons on the bun let you operate him like a tank. You can push both forward and the rodent goes forward, both in reverse and it goes in reverse. Push just one and it turns to that side. The burger also serves as the charger for the rodent. It should sell for about $20.00 plus or minus and should be available the end of October or early November. I would have bought a bunch at the show for Christmas presents but they only had the demonstration model. It should run great on concrete, tile, linolium and wood but not on most carpeting. I suspect a lot of cats might be chasing these guys on Christmas morning whether that’s recommended or not. I don’t know if the Radio Rodent can handle a cat bite. (A question I only thought of after the show. I suspect they could sell a million of these through pet stores alone if it could.)
