A very well running and good condition RAF Royal Air Force Air Ministry split second chronograph /bomb timer the Swiss 17 jewel movement having been just serviced. It has a good condition enamel dial, which is marked 939/39, 39 denoting the year the watch was in service. The case measures 60mm across; it stops and resets and winds correctly. Marked on the back AM below a Crown above 6B/140. An example of this watch is shown on page 129 of Z.M.Wesolowski's book 'Military Timepieces', slightly earlier at 1936. Both the outer and inner back covers snap shut tightly. No dents to the case. The extra complications to the 17 jewel movement provide dual timing facilities. They operate like any normal stop watch with both hands running simultaneously as one. However, when the large button on the left of the winder is depressed, one hand stops whilst the other runs; the operator can then make a note of the interim timing, and when the large button is depressed again this hand will rejoin the other. Both hands can be stopped by depressing the winding crown, and another depression will reset the timer. The outer ring on the dial is calibrated in degrees. If you want one of these, this is a very good example. Please ask any questions before bidding. No reserve. Kindly email me first if you have less than 10 feedback.
