Size 56 RAF Officers No1 hat with Queens Crown badge. The badge possibly pre-dates the 1980's and has a larger and more ornate crown to the current issue. The hat has the makers name "Moss Bros - Covent Garden" under the plastic inner cover and is in a as new condition with no indication that the hat was ever worn or if it was was then very little and cared for (it still has the small circular size label marked six & seven eighths over 56. The top (rim) of the hat is floppy (as shown in the 2nd photo and is not rigid like the modern issue) This reminds me of the type that I saw in the 1960's while in the RAF as worn by officers who doctored their hats to make them look like they were old hands! The rim can been made rigid by inserting a cardboard inner (however there is no apparent evidence in the first instance to suggest that the hat has ever been tampered with).
