2012 marked thirty years since the Falklands War and here we have a superb study of a Vulcan bomber this one being XM597 the famed "Rio visitor". Returning from the bombing mission Black Buck 6 the refuelling probe broke forcing the bomber to head for Rio de Janiero where the crew spent nine days as "guests" of the Brazilian government. Hence the title "Bem vindos ao sol do Brasil!" (Welcome to sunny Brazil!). The print is countersigned by two former RAF pilots who flew Vulcans during the conflict, Squadron Leader Martin Withers DFC, Squadron Leader Neil Mc Dougall DFC (who was actually flying XM597 on Black Buck 6 ) and the artist C.A.Launchbury. A limited run of 725 copies, only the first 225 have these three signatures. This copy is number 202. Printed on 250gsm heavyweight acid free cartridge using lightfast inks. Overall size 77x61cm, image 58x39cm. Included with the print is a certificate of authenticity and a factsheet detailing the Vulcan's role in the Falklands campaign.
