This is a wonderful 980 silver bracelet by noted Mexican silversmith Rafael Melendez, c. 1940. Melendez worked with Spratling in 1932 and opened his own silver shop in 1939, employing many well known Taxco silversmiths, including Pedro Castillo. The bracelet is in excellent condition, has good weight (36.9 grams) and is marked with the conjoined RM, 980 and TAXCO. It is 11/16Ã,Â" wide and currently has an inside circumference of approximately 6 Ã,1⁄4Ã,Â" (including a 1Ã,Â" opening at the back), but could be adjusted to fit a larger wrist.
