You are bidding on one cup, saucer and lid made for the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad by Scammell's Lamberton China. This is the centenary design which began production for use in the year 1927 in the dining cars of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad. The cup has three pictures. Opposite the handle is an engraving of the "First Stone Laid July 4, 1828". To its left is a "Horse Drawn Car 1830". To the right is "The 'Phillip E. Thomas' 1838. The top diameter of the cup is 3 1/2 inches. In the center of the saucer is an engraving of the "Thomas Viaduct 1835". The saucer is 6 1/4inches in diameter. Notice the backstamp which includes the dates "1827" and "1927" separated by a dome, and "Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Scammell's Lamberton China Design Patented". There are no chips, no cracks, no crazing. Scammell's Lamberton Design Patented. The "DESIGN PATENTED" back stamp was first used in 1930-31 with the introduction of several new pieces not included in the original "PATENT APPLIED FOR" set.
