In 1916 Fredrick Perkins set out to produce The Best Marine Lamps possible from his Factory in Brooklyn, NY. Thus Mr. Perkins Founded Perkins Marine Lamp Corporation. He raised The Bar to competitors such as Dietz and others of the time. His main focus was the Maritime Industry, but he found out quickly that the Railroad Industry needed similar Dependable Quality Lamps like he was producing. His business faced some financial obstacles in the 1920's and the Company yet struggled on under the new name Perkins Marine Lamp & Hardware Company. Having made it through the Depression Years, the Perkins Company flourished throughout the 1930's, 1940's & 1950's. In 1960 the Company relocated to Miami, Florida and the Company name was changed to Perko, Inc. Note: There seems to be some confusion among Sellers regarding the Perko Name & Time Frame that is applicable to it. The Information we are sharing with you has been researched and is very accurate as to Company Name and relating Time Frames. With that said, this Antique Wire Frame Lamp we are presenting to you is Marked: "Perkins Marine Lamp Corp" and "B'klyn, N.Y." These Markings support that this Lamp was Manufactured prior to the Company Name Change to Perkins Marine Lamp & Hardware in the 1920's.
