He tells of the early cattle drives to Abeline. Then about the idea of early packing and refrigeration on Rairoad cars. There are fourteen photagraphic illustrations of ranch life scenes on the S. M. S. ranch.I found a small Christmas tag in the book saying "Merry Christmas" and signed "S.M.S. Ranch" The book deals primarily with this ranch. Part of the faint inscription in the front of the book says "Dec. 25- 1927 S.M.S. I have added two photos of the Christmas tag.Hastings took his son to see Buffalo Bills Wild West Show and found out Buffalo Bill bought supplies from his dad in the early days when Bill was shooting buffalo for the Railroads. They talked about the olden days and B.B. said that Hastings should stop up anytime. Hastings seemed to know many of the early cowboy characters.
