RAOUL DU GARDIER (French 1871-1952) " Femme en blanc sur la plage" Image size: 150 x 148 mm Original etching with aquatint by Raoul du Gardier, printed on laid paper, tipped in to the Gazette des Beaux-Arts. With the artist's monogram in the bottom right corner. Estimates of the number of proofs of original prints in the Gazette des Beaux-Arts range from 600 to 1500 copies. Ref: Sanchez & Seydoux 1904-10. Born in Wiesbaden, Raoul du Gardier studied under Gustave Moreau and Élie Delaunay. He first showed at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1897, and thereafter was a regular exhibitor at the Salons. The art of Raoul du Gardier shows the influence of the Nabis. Most of his prints portray his wife as his model.
