Hide and Seek in Fairy Land, by F Kenwood Giles – 16 Favourite Fairy & Other Tales each with its story in Worlds and in Picture, Raphael Tuck & Sons c1946. This is a good example of a charming story – and puzzle – book for children titled Hide and Seek in Fairy Land, by F Kenwood Giles. It was published by Raphael Tuck & Sons Ltd – fine art publishers to T.M. the King and Queen and H.M. Queen Mary. Which dates it between around 1937 to 1952 but in this case there is neat inscription / greeting written (neatly, by an adult) inside the front cover that is dated Christmas 1946, which is probably an accurate date for when it was purchased. The cover states that it contains 16 Favourite Fairy & Other Tales – each with its story in words and in Picture. The inside of the front cover explains that the stories are all well known. There is a picture to represent each – e.g. the first one is The Pied Piper of Hamelin. The story is paraphrased in around a dozen lines of text under the picture and a panel in the picture states that as well as the obvious image there are also hidden 23 Children who followed the Pied Piper. They are very cleverly hidden in amongst the other detail in the illustration.
