This is a RARE and UNIQUE CROSS of LORRAINE style piece of trade silver that has it's makers mark "R.C" which is the mark of ROBERT CRUICKSHANK who "started apprenticing in 1759 and made silver until 1809" This item is quite crudely made, early appearing and could have been "done by an apprentice " of Cruickshank's " since the bi-lobates/tri-lobates are uneven". It is offered as found in a New Jersey estate w it has been for almost 80 years. This piece is probably "Coin Silver" and the cross measures approx. 3 7/8 inches tall by 2 1/4 inches wide at it's farthest points. The maker's mark is clearly "R.C"and thanks to a dedicated fellow ebayer and "enrolled member of the Southern Cherokee and Akwesasne Mohawk Nations" it has now been properly identified.
