RARE AND UNUSUAL GLENDONITE FROM RUSSIA . This unusual specimen is from the Olenitsa River which is located in the Kola Peninsula, Russia. A large amount of Glendonite was allowed to be exported from this region right after the break-up of the USSR. I have been told that local politics in this region of Russia are forbidding further export of this rare and unusual mineral. I recently obtained a flat of this mineral that has been stored in Europe for the past ten years. Once this flat is gone, we are at the mercy of Russian Politicians. As can be seen in the attached photo, this specimen is made up of several four sided, brown crystals which radiate outward from its center, giving it the appearance of a "sand spur". It measures approximately 1 3/8 inches long x 1 1/4 inches wide . Mystics believe that glendonite can be used to center oneself and is especially helpful during periods of stress and anger. This is truly a bizarre and unusual crystal specimen.
