is a beautiful antique coral necklace that we believe dates to the turn of the 19th-20th century (around 1900). It consists of graduated natural, undyed coral beads that ends in a sterling silver clasp overlaid with gilt, a classic technique of that era. We believe the clasp is original to the necklace. The beads overall show a soft orange-pink, peachy color with the gradations in color that natural coral shows. We have shown several sections of the beads close up to give you an idea. The beads are in excellent condition and we recently had the necklace restrung for safety. The necklace measures 10-1/2" when closed, and the beads graduate in size from 10.5mm at the very center to 5mm right next to the clasp, so this is not a shy necklace. If you know anything about coral, you know how rare these all-natural beads are these days, and how expensive coral has become due to the pollution spoiling the reefs.
