Over the next month I will be listing many vintage machine made and antique hand made marbles which I have collected for 25 years. I will also be listing some recent acquisitions which include many rare and hard to find. marbles and also some great signed contemporary handmade. I will be listing almost every day so you might want to view my other items. This listing is for an old antique German handmade Onionskin. It is unreal how much this marble has going on. It is a 2 panel which are separated by 2 narrow bands of clear. Although viewing it from the opposite pole, it looks like 4 panels. On of the panels is lobed in the middle of it which means that it's middle is shrunken towards the center(like a valley). It is an end of day with some of the colors being stretched from pole to pole and some are just spots or just stretched a little. The base is clear with opaque white and pink and translucent blue. The blue are spots or slightly stretched. It also appears to be a biginning of cane . At one pole instead of having a pontil it has four tiny round indentations. At the other pole is the marble's best feature . It has a ground faceted pontil , which means that the marble might have been made about 1850 . It is just shy of 3/4 inch, measuring 23/32". The only loss of glass is a very small partial surface moon and a very small fleabite.
