Beautiful and very RARE Japanese Satsuma Moriage tea set in a most lovely blue shade. Set includes teapot, creamer, sugar and a pair of cup and saucers. The moriage (painted gold detail that is raised) detail is simply exquisite. Beautifully applied over a lovely blue bisque these are the most fabulous set ever. Teapot is 7" tall, sugar is 4" tall, creamer is 3" tall and the cups and saucers are 2 1/2" tall. This set is unmarked and dates to the late 1800's (Japanese pieces were unmarked until 1891 when they began to be marked "Japan", and 1911 when the mark changed to "made in Japan"). Great authentic 19th c. period detail, this set makes for a knock-out display. Perfect for that punch of color to accent any room, this 100+ year-old set will make a wonderful design statement. Satsuma moriage pieces are quite rare and it is extremely rare to see a complete intact tea set. Set is in excellent condition, no chips, cracks or repairs. This is truly a one-of-a-kind rare find indeed!!! I do combine shipping for multiple items won from me and all items can be returned in 7 days if not completely satisfied.
