This auction is for a very rare antique 19th century Victorian French textile fragment, which is unbelievable in its silk texture. It consists of woven silk with embroidered threads of a very deep, rich scarlet red and a beautiful shade of French blue with two different types of flowers in its design, which are surrounded by a square embroidered thread border. The underside is the opposite shades with scarlet silk embroidered threads. This silk is probably the most unique and beautiful that I have ever seen. The shades together are phenomenal and the silk is gossamer-like being similar to a raw silk and is buttery soft. It has a couple of tiny holes and a few smudges, but not noticeable. Two of the sides widthwise have a less than 1/8" selvedge, with one of them having some raw edges. The other two sides are raw edges, but with a small portion of it being hand-hemmed with the tiniest stitches. Although it is lightweight and wonderful, it has good body to it. I cannot even express how lovely this textile is; it is one of my favorites and is so very unique. This measures approximately 19.5" x 18.5". The floral motifs measure about 1 3/4" x 2" and read more
