Welcome and thank you for visiting Sweet Home Chicago Antiques. Each week we list a number of auctions using the No Reserve format, regardless of the value of the item. We like to keep our starting bids reasonable so that everyone has an opportunity to win a fine antique or treasure. We will also occasionally be listing a few auctions with a modest reserve equivalent to our investment. For those sales, the reserve will be revealed on the final day to active bidders only. If you are in the active bidding and wish to know the reserve, please email early on the last day so that we have time to answer you. This is a wonderful antique Singer sewing machine. I called Singer with the registration number, and they informed me that this is a Model 27, and that it was manufactured in Elizabeth, New Jersey on 11-28-1904. They also said that t were only 20,000 of this model made. The registration number on the plate below the bobbin winder is: B748385. The length of the bed itself - not including the wood case - is about 14.50 inches. The depth of the bed is just under 7.00 inches. I'm told that this is a full-size machine. It weighs about 46 pounds unpacked. The motor is likely a replacement, and I did provide a picture of it. I remember my grandma going through a motor or two in her sewing heydays. I plugged it in, and the motor does run.
