ABOUT OUR AUCTIONS: Hi everyone,thanks for taking a look at our items. Over the next couple weeks we will be auctioning off some very fine examples out of our private collection. ITEM: Up for auction is a Very Rare Large c1820 Solid Silver Teapot by sought after American Silversmith William.Thomson of New York. The Teapot is part of a Large Collection of Silver and other Fine Quality Estate items up for auction, as you can see in the last picture. The Teapot is one of the finest, and by far the Largest examples of Early American Silver we have seen. The Teapot also has a great design and form including the Great Dolphin Finial Top, Oak Leaf, and Acorn Designs, Shell Designs around the top and bottom rims, and a nice bulbous period form. The Handle and Spout are also Very Large. The Teapot is the Largest Teapot we have seen from anyw measuring an amazing 13 inches long, by 5 1/2 inches wide, and standing 10 1/2 inches tall. The Teapot is also in excellent original condition with no dints, cracks, or repairs. The Silver Handle with Ebony mounts is also nice and strong with no movement or damage of any kind. The Lid also open and closes perfectly with a nice strong back hinge also in excellent condition. The Teapot is also Very Thick Solid Silver Throughout weighting 1180 grams on our postal scale. As you can see the Teapot has the initials JAB and could possibly be traced back to a early American family. I believe you would of had to be quite wealthy to commission the making of such a Teapot at this time period. The Teapot is also by a very sought after American Silversmith William.Thomson of New York as Hallmarked. The Hallmark is also the earlier mark used by Thomson in the early 1800's. I have no idea what the Teapot would be worth. You usually only find very small articles come up for auction like spoons and such from this period. I do know a pair of William.Thomson Flagons just sold recently at Sotheby's in New York on Jan19th 2007 for 27,000.00US. However we have never had a reserve on one item Ever online, and always start our items off low to give everyone a chance at such a nice piece. And we do not plan on changing that any time soon! The Teapot will be sold to the high bidder, regardless fo the high bid price, just like a Real Auction should be!!
