This is an absolutely fabulous painted tin tankard from around the early 1900's. It is 10-1/2" tall and appears to be cold painted with an elaborate overall design and a center panel depicting two women bundled up against the cold. They seem to be on a bridge with a church in the background. The colors are browns, greens and maroons and this almost has a Russian or Slavic feel to it. The paint is approx. 95%. The tin is hammered in 2 of the panels and on part of the elongated handle which gives a 3 dimensional appearance. The detail is magnificent and the colors vibrant! On the interior of the lid t is an advertisement stamped into the metal which reads "Wm. Schotten & Co.'s High Grade Teas, St. Louis". This is a highly unusual piece and a fantastic find. Buyer to pay shp/ins via FedEx or USPS. GOOD LUCK AND THANKS FOR YOUR BID!! Check out my other items !
