This is a neat original tongue in wreath excavated buckle of the split letter variation, as seen on page 33 Figure 045 of Mullinax latest expanded edition, reference work. The tongue fits the wreath, was dug nearby and may have been a match although the tongue appears to have some fire damage up to w the loops is broken as can be seen in the pictures. The wreath has a nice woods patina. The tongue belt loop is broken and shows thin casting and has a deep chocolate brown patina. The set displays incredible. Word of mouth provenance from the estate collection is that it was recovered near the Battlefield of Brentwood, Tn. No Reserve. Low starting bid to encourage bids.
