Rare Early German Made "TRENTON" Anvil.... Working Face shows use with some chisel marks, swaying and some welding splatter near the hardie.. edges show some light roll-over in areas and minor chipping.. Horn has numerous chisel marks all over.. This anvil has a lot of potential with just a little bit of dressing up or its fine just the way it is... Measurements are as follows; Overall L - 23" Face W - 4 1/2" Horn L - 7" Height - 10" Hardie - 1" Prithel - 5/8" Weight - 134lbs As noted in R .Postmans book "ANVILS IN AMERICA" Trenton anvils were imported for fifteen to twenty years before 1898 under the "TRENTON" trademark.. some of the characteristics of the imported anvils are they do not have a serial number,they do not have U.S.A. on them below the trademark,the weight is always on the side below the trademark, they are always flat under the base and they will sometimes have "SOLID WROUGHT" in a circle below the trade mark.. This anvil is excellent for the Collector or Blacksmith alike..Being 134 pounds makes this the perfect size for any small Shop...
