Rare Georgian 'Harlequin' Mahogany Two Division Tea Caddy C1800 This is a fine and rare Georgian two division tea caddy inlaid in a stunning geometric pattern. Its dimensions are: 6 x 4.25 x 4.5 inches approximately In excellent condition throughout, the interior offers two lidded tea compartments, the lids being veneered in Mahogany, strung with Boxwood and having two replacement dutch drop handles. The compartments themselves bear the remnants of the original lining whilst the underside of the lid has been relined with a good quality hand marbled paper The exterior, with its rectangular form, is profusely inlaid to the front and back in a geometric diamond pattern that is composed of alternating strips of Mahogany and Boxwood. T is brass Axe Head handle to the centre of the top and a kite shaped escutcheon to the lock area. The lock appears to be in good order but unfortunately t is no key.T is a small strip of replacement veneer to one of the sides which doesnt detract All things considered this is a fine marquetry caddy of desirable proportions.
