Rare Chalk "Indian Chief" String Holder 1940s-50s - Chalkware Up for auction with NO RESERVE is this very rare chalkware "Indian Chief with a Headdress" String Holder . This string holder was produced in the 1940s-50s and measures 8 3/4" in height. It is made of chalk and is in very good condition - having no chips, cracks or repairs. It has the original wire hanger on the back for hanging on the wall. All paint is original. The string goes in the back and comes out of a hole in its mouth. I have seen several of these over the 40 years that I have collected string holders and this has to be the most beautifully painted Indian Chief's I have ever seen! This wonderful string holder is pictured and is listed for $225-250 on page 94 of the "Collectibles for the Kitchen, Bath & Beyound - A Pictorial Guide" (2nd Edition) published in 2001 by Krause Publications.
