RARE KORAN LEAF FROM ANDALUSIA (ALANDALUS): ?????? ?????? ???? ?? ??????? This leaf is really a piece of art. It is a part of an old Koran manuscript written in Granada in the 15 th century . Granada ( Garnatah ) was the last Arabic kingdom in Al Andalus ( Andalusia ) during the Christian reconquest of Iberian Peninsula , and fall in 1492 during the rein of Ferdinand & Isabella . The manuscript is undated as all similar books written before the 17 th century. The text contains the Last verses of Surat Jonas & Heading & first Verses of Surat Hud . The verses are written in the stunning Andalusia and North African style of Arabic Calligraphy with golden ink; and vowelized with red one. Foxing and extensive worming is evident but the text is still very clear despite fade with time. It measures 6.3? x 8.5?.
