You are bidding on a real rock art displaying Petroglyphs (Peh-truh-GLIFS). Petroglyphs are also called pictograms, carved rock, rock art, picture writing and rock graphics that often tell stories of native people, rituals, animals, birds, reptiles or insects. Most rock art were pecked, incised, scratched, chiseled, chipped or cut into stones, Limestone & Sandstone bluffs, walls or large or small flat rocks with stone tools made of harder or denser rocks like flint-rock, or by using animal horns & bones, or by using early crude metal tools such as railroad nails, nails or small axe. Other rock art were painted with wild berries, grass, mud or black ash from burnt firewood, or they used white limestone, red/brown/orange ore-stones to paint icons on cliff/cave walls, animal skins, or terracotta (clay/dirt/mud) pots. We live in Texas w many Native tribes lived and roamed the entire State. Most all tribes carved or painted Petroglyphs of some type or another by men, women or children to pass time, record rituals, tell or repeat stories or display animals or scenes in nature.
