This is a fascinating Paperweight - a original Steel Rivet from the world famous and greatest cnaterlever Rail Rold Bridge built from 1883 - 1890 This steel rivet is one of 6 1/2 million driven into the Forth RR Bridge during its building by Tancred, Arrol & Co. from 1883 -1850. During the mid 1980's about 2000 rivets were removed from the bottom tubes to enable a maintenance equiopment facility to be fixed. They have been made into paperweight -- original rivets from 1880 ecased in acrylic and number -- this is o 1571 of only 2000 - a strictly limited issue commemorating the centenary of the bridge. is piece of history from one of the most beautiful bridges in the world and - a victorian Masterpiece. This bridge has always been important for for railway links to the north but during the Second World War it was vital for troops traveling to the North of Scotland for mountain training. It was well fortitifed with by the gen implacements on the islands in the Firth of Forth and survived several attempts to bomb it by the enemy. Measurements are 5 inches long and 2 3/8 inches square.
