Very Rare Purple Slag Westmoreland Oval Duck Line #10 This is an auction for a very rare Purple Slag Carnival Westmoreland Duck on a base. It says in the Westmoreland Glass book, 1950-1984, by Lorraine Kovar that this purple slag carnival treatment was experimental. The oval base measures 8 inches long by 6 inches wide. The duck top measures 8 3/8ths inches long beak to tail and 4 1/4 inches wide. This duck in marked with the Westmoreland Seal on the inside of the duck top and on the base in the center. This piece is in excellent condition with no breaks or repairs. I do see in the ribbing on the base a minor flake. It is hard to find, you have to really look for it. The marble color is beautiful with a lovely irridescence much like good carnival glass. I have had this in my collection for many years and am now ready to part with it.
