- Tony Conigliaro - 1945 - 1990 I'm sure most baseball fans know the tragic story of Tony C., but for those who don't, it would be worth your time to Google it. You won't find many baseballs online that were signed by him, but for trivia's sake, one is mentioned in the movie "T's Something About Mary" Finally up for auction, my ENTIRE Red Sox baseball "collection". I offer my rare baseball, autographed by Tony Conigliaro, PLUS 2 Topps baseball cards of Tony C. # 280 and #140. Cards not signed. Maybe you can tell that I was not a big Boston Red Sox fan, even coming from Massachusetts ( I was a Yankees Fan - sorry ). But as a 12 year old girl, I WAS a big Tony Conigliaro fan. I have no Certificate of Authenticity ( COA ) for the baseball, because I never needed one. Tony signed the ball in front of me and tossed it to me, then shook my hand. So I am the original owner. I was at a small banquet late 1964 or very early 1965 w he was the guest of honor, and I was totally thrilled when I was offered this prize. The baseball is not collector clean, because it was handled quite often in the 60s (showing it off of course) and it was often rubbed for luck, but it has no nicks, cuts, scuffs or scrapes.
