You are bidding on one gemmy crystal of bixbite, AKA red beryl, or far less precisely, red emerald. The stone in the picture is the stone you will receive. This crystal was collected at the Violet claims in the Wah Wah Mountains of southwestern Utah. It measures 4.0mm x 2.1mm x 2.2mm and weighs .12ct. Bixbite is an incredibly rare gemstone. It has been found in only two or three places on Earth, in Utah, New Mexico, and possibly Madagascar. The Madagascar stones are better described as pink beryl, and only tiny, included crystals have been found in New Mexico. The only source of gem quality bixbite is in the Wah Wah Mountains of Utah. Only one mine, the Ruby Violet Mine, was ever operated to produce bixbite, During its peak production in the year 2000, the mine produced 70 tons of ore per day, yielding less than 100 carats of bixbite crystals, or about 10 carats of cut gems, per day. The commercial operation is now closed, and my supply of these crystals is strictly limited. I will combine shipping on all items purchased within a 7 day period, at no additional charge. All auctions must be paid within 7 days.
