This is a glass plate/dish (6 3/4 X 8 3/4") made by Libby & Assoc. , Encino , Ca. (marked on back) address has no zip, so think made 1961 or 62. Ship was commissioned in 1961. From the estate of a retired Long Beach city official. Believe a limited number of these made to give to city officials & others as a souvenir of the fact that the first atomic surface warship ( and last of what Navy folks called "Cruisers") was named for the city of Long Beach (at that time a Navy town downtown & a shipyard). This piece absolutely mint, no scratches, no chips or cracks. beautiful image of the ship at sea and a gold border with stars & gold lettering. says under pic: U.S.S. LONG BEACH America's First Atomic Powered Surface Ship. It's a beautiful piece of smoked glass--a shallow dish: could easily be framed or wall-mounted.
