RARE PEDRO CASTILLO Vintage Sterling Silver Teaspoon from Taxco, Mexico Wonderful mid-century (circa 1960s) Taxco Sterling Teaspoon handcrafted by artisan Pedro Castillo with Aztec-inspired design. Pedro Castillo began his career as an apprentice silversmith at William Spratling's famed Taller de Las Delicias in Taxco in 1933, and worked with silver masters Hector Aguilar, Antonio Pineda, and Salvador Teran, among others. When Hector Aguilar decided to start his own shop, Taller Borda, in 1939, Pedro made the move to the new workshop with him and worked t for nine years. He subsequently established a workshop in his home, w he concentrated on creating flatware. Photo of markings shows Castillo's personal stamp with a PC (the C placed below the half-circle of the P). You can also see the word "sterling" and the Eagle Mark #3 indicating it came from Taxco, Mexico. See /mexican_marks.html for more details on the markings. The overall condition is quite good.
