Rare & Wonderful Victorian Blue Cottage Bed Set ~ 1895 Great Still Life ~ Hand Painted! We are breaking out some more of our collection of cottage bedroom sets! If you haven't seen this style before, its really worth taking a look at. This is a pure American form mixing Folk Art with Victoriana. Its a warm and whimsical style incorporated into a very practical form. My partner Lily introduced me to these "cottage" beds several years ago, and her passion turned into mine, and its fun turning others onto this little known style. The blue and blue-green sets are the most revered, and if you find a special scene painted on the headboard, that just brings it up another notch! The headboard scene on this set is particularly unusual. Like an "old master" still life, its like having your own masterpiece built right into your bed! The classical urn holds a bouquet of flowers with a nice touch of buterflies fluttering around the base. The rest of the hand painted decorations are more typical of cottage sets with sprays of flowers decorating throughout. T are three pieces including the full size bed, a handy commode and the requisite dresser. ~ Condition is very good, sturdy, and original.
