EXTREMELY RARE LIMITED EDITION LITHOGRAPH BY RAYMOND LOEWY--#153/300, Initialed by the great designer himself! This unusual work of art is professionally framed in black, approximately 31"x25". Raymond Loewy had lithographs produced by the American Atelier in New York City based on his original designs. Using his 1961 design for the Avanti as a model, mylar sheets were prepared and then chemically transferred onto emulsion-coated aluminum lithographic plates. Loewy made numerous linear and color corrections by hand. The entire edition was then pulled one color at a time. The number of impressions of each lithograph was approximately 370. Each print in the edition was inspected and initialed by hand in pencil by Loewy in December 1978. The others became artists proofs and presentation proofs The Studebaker Avanti, designed by Loewy and his team, was only produced for 1963 and 1964 model years. It featured a fiberglass body, a built -in roll bar, a padded dashboard, and aircraft-style controls, all way ahead of their time.
