This is a large, abandoned bald-faced hornet nest from North Dakota. It was found this summer in a spruce tree in a friend's backyard. The hornets nest is in excellent condition, and the approximate size is 28 inches in circumference and 11 inches tall. The paper includes shades of gray, pink, brown, and orange. The entrance to this nest is on the side near the base, and is large enough to view the intricate honeycomb nesting structures of this colonial insect. This would be an excellent item to decorate a hunting shack or to create a rustic natural effect in a cabin, or it could be used for taxidermy or as an educational display in a classroom, nature center, or natural history museum. The nest will be packaged and shipped with care. [NOTE: Spruce branches are prone to lose their needles naturally and quickly after they are brought into a warm area. As a result, the branches associated with this hornets nest have lost all of their needles.
