Very rare real photo postcard of San Angelos in 1888 ( although the postcard most likely was published in 1908) that shows a Parade with a brass band celebrating the location of the Santa Fe Railroad in San Angelos. The Court house is in the background. The message on the postcard tells the story to indicate that the saddle on the white horse is hers and Harry is riding the horse. She also writes that the framed shanties in the photo have been replaced by two story brick buildings. After being designated as the county seat, the town grew quickly in the 1880s, aided by being on the route of newly constructed railroads . It became a central transportation hub for the region. The Santa Fe Railroad arrived in 1888.
