This is the preferred ' Roger - Kellogg - Stillson' first printing. The binding is tight and the cloth boards are very clean. The spine is in excellent condition. The corners are sharp. The interior is very nice. The end papers are illustrated by renowned artist Wesley Dennis, and more beautiful watercolor illustrations by Dennis are scattered throughout the book . There is a small bookplate on the front paste-down. The 131 pages are clean and bright. No writing. No folds. No tears. This book has been very well cared for.Included is the rare original illustrated slip case. The slip case has done it's job protecting the book over the years and remains in very nice condition. The slip case makes this copy complete as originally issued!"The Red Pony" was originally published in a collection of short stories by Steinbeck in 1937. The story was adapted to an illustrated stand-alone book in 1945. This is that book. There is no dust jacket for "The Red Pony" .
