RED WING NOON HOUR SPECIAL we have this gorgeous Red Wing Experimental/Noon Hour Piece. This great find is sure to be a one of a kind piece. The piece itself is a 6 5/8" across ashtray with the Red Wing USA incised on the bottom. It appears as though the ashtray was taken home by someone working at the plant and had their child draw the scene that is on it. The ashtray shows a large ship with stick people, as well as two submarines with the one having the number 109 in it. We are thinking this is in reference to JFK's Boat. This also is the opinion of the Red Wing Collectors society as we chatted slightly with them about the piece. Also you will see on the piece what looks to be four sharks in the water, with clouds and a sun overhead. The real neat part about this piece is near the right edge it reads: BROCK 6 1/2 years. The piece is about as perfect as you can get, it does show slight crazing on the rim in the upper left side and again in lower right side. Most definately not cracks just age crazing and very light at that. My guess is this piece did not get the first class glazing that most the Red Wing pieces did. It is fully glazed however with the exception of the back middle area being unglazed. For all those collectors looking for a real one-of-a-kind piece it is.
