Some mold roughness on the neck from crude manufacturing (not damage). I have since cleaned the outside with detergent to remove grime and the bear shines. No chips, dings, or cracks.DESCRIPTION AND CHARACTERISTICS: A desirable figural blown in a mold (BIM), smooth base, and a crudely applied tooled lip. Overall, just a crudely made, true blackglass (not painted) bear. I have attempted to see light through it, but cannot. It is black. You will not be disappointed with this earlier version of this highly sought-after figural.GENERAL COMMENTS:Not a reproduction and guaranteed authentic.Commonly referred to as a "Kummel Bear" (seated bear). These bottles can be found in a variety of colors, however black (deep Amethyst) and milk glass with applied faces represent the earliest example. Originally manufactured in Russia by Smirnoff, the earliest bears are crudely manufactured and have applied faces (where an applique of the face has been adhered after the bottle was blown.
