Reed & Barton Francis I Sterling Silver Répoussé 8.125" Round Footed Bon-Bon Bowl X569F - Vintage 1950 - No Reserve Francis I is the premier flatware pattern of Reed & Barton, which has been manufacturing it since 1906, the year before the pattern was patented. The pattern is unique in that it has fifteen different fruit cluster patterns, each applied consistently to the base of the handle of a different piece of flatware - and the same fruit clusters are carried into the design of this bowl and others in the Franis I holloware range. (Reed & Barton announced in 2006 that they would no longer make the Fransis I holowware, meaning this bowl will only become increasingly scarce.). The hallmarks on the reverse are clear, including the symbol for the year 1950 - the drum. It weighs 335g, or 10.77 troy ounces. Silver content is tfore just shy of 10 troy ounced (Sterling contains 925 parts per thousand of silver metal) with scrap value of $118.76. The bowl was well-cared for, polished only occasionally, then stored in a cupboard for many years, forgotten. Although the fine details are crisp even today, t is some tarnish in the crevices, particularly underneath, which we will leave to the buyer to remove. No monogram sullied its surface, and t are almost no signs of use - just very minor scratches consistent with polishing. T are two read more
