A 1950s REME (Royal Electrical & Mechanical Engineers) uniform, Lieutentant's rank. Supplied new by Alkit, a well-known military outfitters in Cambridge Circus, London. This uniform comprises jacket, trousers, Sam Browne belt and hat. The jacket is approx 38 - 40" chest. It has four buttoned front pockets, with corner poppers on the two breast pockets to keep them flat. The jacket is fastened by four large buttons, all bearing the REME badge. There are currently REME slide badges to both lapels, and I will also include two of the REME 'horse' badges (matching the cap badge) which I believe are the correct fitting. There are functional epaulettes to keep the Sam Browne belt in place, and the epaulettes show the Lieutenant's rank. The jacket also has supports for the belt to slot into when worn with a holster or ceremonial sword. Plus note, no holster or ceremonial sword is provided! The trousers are 34" waist with a 32" inside let, with a button fly and three pairs of buttons for braces. The Sam Browne belt, size 30" - 40" is in good condition with all brass fittings intact. Slight deformation of the leather indicates it has been worn by someone with a 34" waist. The peaked cap is size 57 (7 1/8) and bears a REME badge. This uniform is in excellent condition, with just one or two tiny holes which are hard to spot when it's on
