Hello and thanks for looking. THIS IS NOT A REAL WEAPON! It is a 100% REPRODUCTION! Now that we have that out of the way, let's get down to business. Up for auction is a resin reproduction of the infamous German S-Mine 35. Nicknamed the "Bouncing Betty", this mine would launch 3-4 feet into the air when detonated, then explode, sending hundreds of shards of metal (or small ball bearings) flying through the air. It was one of the most effective and feared anti-personnel mines of WWII. This reproduction is a 1:1 casting of a real 1942 dated S-mine. The resin is very strong, yet lightweight. The mine still has the original markings and date of 1942. It does have a few minor areas that you can see where the original had some minor pitting, but that's how the original one was as well. Real S-mines are very difficult to find, and when you do, run $400-$700, depending on the condition. Included in the auction is a reproduction fuze. The fuze is cast from an original fuze, and you can still make out the maker's mark of "44 brb" on the side of the mine. The fuze is made of resin, and can be unscrewed from the mine body. The 3 "probes" are made of metal, so you don't have to worry about them breaking off. All in all, a nice reproduction of a rare piece of WWII German ordnance.
