Rex Royal guitars were manufactured by eith er Kay or Harmony to be di stributed as a second line to Gretsch. This one was made by Harmony and i s ink stamp dated "F43" meaning it was manufactured in the fall of 1943. Due to wartime ma terial restrictions, this guitar has a wooden rather than metal tailpiece. It is in amazingly good condition for being 69 years old. The neck is straight and the action low. The finish and all the parts appear to be original. There minor dings and scratches. There is one surface crack on the side near the neck heel. There are no o ther cracks or separations. It will ship in a newer chipboard case.
