Richard Gabriel Chase (1919-2007)Beautiful detail of old garage and house; Watercolor- wonderful composition and detail; signed left lower corner.Painting 17" X 22"Some wear at prior frame edge, see photos.Born in Massachusetts, Richard Gabriel Chase (American, 1919-2007) first studied at the Worcester Art Museum School, later earning his degree from Massachusetts College of Art. After serving in the Army during WWII, he moved to southern California, where he continued to paint, exhibit, and teach life drawing and portraiture at San Bernardino College. Chase painted landscapes, still lives, and coastal scenes. He was commissioned to create historical murals, which remain in numerous public locations in Southern California. His most famous works hang in the Air and Space Museum in Balboa Park or at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, where he did a $500,000 commission upon the hotel's opening. Richard Chase painted for over seventy years, mainly in San Diego.Smoke and pet free home
