Richard Luney large painting African game animals contemporary wildlife art. Measures 24" x 24". I believe that it is oil on board. In excellent vintage condition and beautifully framed.Richard Luney's paintings of wildlife have been popular since the 1970's. Luney, a Vietnam veteran, was already exhibiting by 1974 at Lord & Taylor Gallery in New York. The artist described his style as "contemporary surrealism". California-born, he would go to Lion Country Safari to study the animals, so as to paint the animals with greater accuracy. In addition to the early showings at Lord & Taylor in New York and Houston, his paintings have been offered by The Jones Gallery of La Jolla, California; Petterson Gallery, Beverly Hills; Elaine Horwitch Gallery, Scottsdale, Arizona; and the Galerie Classic Art, Worpswede, Germany.
